David Hasselhoff Music Videos: The Definitive Ranking

On August 6, Marvel unveiled their latest advertising gimmick for the Guardian’s Of The Galaxy DVD. That gimmick? A great slice of retro cheese in the form of a music video starring the king of the 80s and 90s, David Hasselhoff.

Upon watching it I was thrilled because I genuinely love David Hasselhoff music videos and indeed his music in general. Sure he’s not the greatest singer, but I’ll be damned if he’s not having the most fun. I think the viral nature of this video means it’s safe to say that the world is finally ready to catch up with this iconic musical artist in all his glory.

It’s been two years since Wes Craven passed away. One of the true masters of horror, Wes was known for his ability to craft a scene so intense that it’d have everyone sitting on the edge of their seats with fear. He created the iconic Nightmare on Elm Street franchise and helmed the Scream series, making true classics of the genre that will forever be remembered. Today, I want to talk about the individual sequences that became some of the most terrifying moments in cinematic history and should be remembered as a part of this man’s incredible legacy.

We Need To Talk About TV Shows Based On Apps

2017 is apparently the year that the apps are taking over the entertainment industry in shocking ways. It began with The Emoji Movie, a movie that is so iconically bad it has 8% on Rotten Tomatoes, which is genuinely incredible when you consider that a movie where a drag queen eats dog shit has an 80%. Nice Visual, Shame About The Plot

In 1982 there was a BBC sketch comedy series called Not The Nine O’Clock News that starred Rowan Atkinson, Pamela Stephenson, Mel Smith and Griff Rhys Jones. In their fourth series the opening episode contained a song parody of what was, at the time, the current attitude towards music videos. It was called Nice Video, Shame About The Song.

The idea of the song is fairly basic, at the time more money was spent on amazing looking video clips than on making sure the song actually worked on its own. It also became a bit of a catchphrase, a shorthand way of describing a piece of media that relies too much on visuals and forgets the other elements of visual storytelling. Let’s explore a few examples of films where it really was a nice video, shame about the song.
