‘Baby Driver’ And The Importance Of Diegetic Sound

Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver is without a doubt one of the most anticipated films of the year. It’s a stylish action film about a teenage boy with tinnitus, who’s also a getaway driver for a rotating band of thieves. In order to block out the constant ringing in his ears, he listens to music on his iPod, which is apparently making people nostalgic for an item that’s still available pretty much anywhere.

One of the things about this movie that’s getting everyone so hyped about this film is it’s soundtrack, specifically how it is perfectly integrated with the stylized action on screen. The sound is an incredibly important aspect of the film’s success, so let’s explore how diegetic sound makes Baby Driver stand out from the crowd.

6 ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Lip Syncs That You’ve Probably Forgotten

Every fan of RuPaul’s Drag Race has a list of his or her favourite lip syncs, it’s just how we roll. We all have that one performance that we will watch over and over again on an endless loop while screaming “YAS QUEEN” at the top of our lungs and demanding that both singers stay. These lists are long and varied, but there are a few standouts. Recent additions to the list being the “Shut Up And Drive” lip sync from All Stars 2 or the “So Emotional” lip sync from the recent Season 9 finale.

There are others on our list, from “Whip My Hair” to “MacArthur Park,” but what about the forgotten lip syncs, the ones that never get brought up on these lists? 13 Facts About The Friday The 13th Series That’ll Make You Scream

In 1980 the film Friday the 13th was unleashed into cinemas, pushing the horror genre into high gear and inspiring a legion of filmmakers to give the genre a try. Filmed in an actual summer camp on a $550,000 budget the film went on to make almost $60 million at the box office and started one of the most iconic franchises of all time. It’s spun off into comics, TV series, books, toys. It is the essential slasher franchise of its time and with the recent release of the Friday the 13th Video Game, I think it’s only right to go through this iconic series and throw up a few bits of trivia you may or may not know about this beloved series. Fair warning, a large amount of this comes from the recent documentary Crystal Lake Memories which is absolutely amazing, it’s also about 7 hours long. So think of this as me saving you 7 hours and giving you the most interesting tidbits

So guess who saw Transformers 5: The Last Knight? That’s right, people who suffered. I was one of them and I have come to the conclusion that I’m sure many people came too ages ago. Michael Bay has absolutely no idea how films are supposed to work. I’m not just talking about story or concept, films like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or Pearl Harbor proved that long ago. For me, it took Transformers 5 to catch onto the fact that, in general, he has no idea what on earth he’s doing just in terms of the fundamentals of cinema.
